Carefully choose the time to talk to him or her
High school teachers are very busy. If you speak to him or her right before class is about to begin, they are not likely to have time for you. Most will make an appointment, however. Do not hound him or her with phone call after phone call or e-mail after e-mail.
Develop a good relationship
You may have a better time communicating with your high school child’s teachers if you can develop a relationship. It may be just about introducing yourself. If they need a volunteer or a chaperone, then you can offer your time. A little bit of work on your part can go a long way if something arises. Let your child handle what he or she can
When your child was in elementary school you may have been accustomed to handling everything for him or her. Your child is now a breath away from college, and he or she will need to start dealing with issues on their own.
