Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: April 2026.

This page explains how affiliate relationships work on Haikus (blog.haikus.net), in plain English, so you know exactly what to expect when you click a link.

What is an affiliate link?

An affiliate link is a link that tells the destination site — usually a retailer like Amazon — that you arrived via this blog. If you go on to buy something through that link, the retailer pays us a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as if you’d gone to the retailer directly. The commission comes out of the retailer’s marketing budget, not your pocket.

When we use affiliate links

Some articles on this site recommend specific products, services, or resources. Where a reasonable affiliate program exists for the item we’re recommending, we often use an affiliate link instead of a plain link. The recommendation itself is always based on our honest assessment — we do not recommend products because they pay a commission, and we do not change our opinion to fit a retailer’s program.

Programs we participate in

This site may participate in affiliate programs operated by Amazon and other retailers. In the United States, this site may be a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

How we mark affiliate links

We aim to make it clear when a link is an affiliate link, either by a note near the link, a general disclosure at the top or bottom of the article, or by this site-wide disclosure page. Some automated disclosure messaging is also added below, where applicable.

Our promise

  • We don’t write fake-positive reviews to earn commissions.
  • We don’t accept payment to include a specific product in an article.
  • If a product we’ve recommended turns out to be problematic, we update or remove the recommendation.
  • Affiliate income helps keep the site running, but it does not dictate editorial choices.

Advertising

Separately from affiliate links, Haikus may display third-party ads (for example, through Google AdSense). See the Privacy Policy for details on advertising cookies and how to opt out of personalized ads.
