What to Put in a Guest Room

Many homeowners have a guest room to give a place for loved ones to stay. When designing a guest room, you want your guests to have many things to keep them comfortable. There are many different essential items to ensure your guests’ comfort.
Bed
Of course you are going to need a bed in the guest room, and you will have several options for this. You might choose to have a regular bed in there. You can also have a daybed. Many of these also have a trundle underneath, which is great because if you have two people staying you will have enough room. Some people also get a couch that has a fold out bed or a futon, but these do not tend to be as comfortable.
Chair
You should have a place where someone can sit in the room. A desk would also be nice, especially for people who have work to do while they are there.
Dresser, chest
Your guests need a place to put their clothing. You should have a chest of drawers or a dresser with some empty drawers. Think about how long they will stay and how much room they will need. You also might want to put a hamper in the room for dirty clothing.
Closet
Your guests may have some clothing that needs to hang. This may be especially true if they are there for a special event. Obviously, you are probably not going to go to the trouble of building a closet if the room does not come with one; however, you can buy a piece of furniture that has an area for clothing to hang.
Nightstand
A nightstand next to the bed can be very convenient. Guests can leave things on the side such as glasses or other things that they would not want to walk across the room without.
Alarm clock
You want your guests to be able to see the time and set an alarm for themselves if they need to. Alarm clocks are inexpensive but provide a good function.
Fan
It is difficult for guests if they are too hot in your home. They might not want to tell you to change the temperature. A fan gives them the option of making it a little more comfortable if they are hot.
Extra linens/bed items
You might want to have some extra blankets, pillows and other linens in the room. This would be good to have in case they need it late at night.
There are some items that are nice but not absolutely necessary. Many people like to put a television in a guest room, especially if the guests will be staying for a long time. This can be convenient if the guest wants to watch something late at night.
There are many things that can increase the comfort of your guests. Try to keep the above items in such a room.
