Tips on How to Make a Lasting Impression on the First Date
A first date can make a very lasting impression. Of course, you want it to be a good impression and not a bad one. There are some specific things that you can do in order to make a great first impression to hopefully turn that first date into a second, a third and more.
Take your time with your appearance
Although most are not looking for someone solely interested in looks, it is undeniable that people do notice towards the effort others make in their appearance.
It is not necessarily about how attractive or thin you are, but it is important to take the time to present yourself well. To that extent you should dress nicely. You want to show that this is important to you and that you have taken the time to pick out a nice outfit. It doesn’t have to be overly formal but it should be as formal as the occasion calls for.
Try to pick something that is flattering to you and that shows time and effort. Also, make sure your hair looks neat as well. You want to look like you made the effort. Obviously, it doesn’t hurt if the person is attracted to your physical appearance.
Bring a little something
It can be a very nice gesture to bring a little something to the date. It doesn’t have to be that you go out and spend $200 on a piece of jewelry. Even a single rose can be a very sweet gesture. You can get a little box of candy or a small bouquet. This just shows the extra thoughtfulness, which someone might enjoy.
Don’t just talk – listen
Many people like to do all the talking. They talk about themselves again and again. One nice thing is to listen to the other person. Don’t just hear, but really listen. Become engaged in the conversation and show them that you are truly interested. It will make them feel good to see that you care about and are interested in what they do.
Be altruistic
Sometimes there are little things you can do that are just nice. It might be pulling out the lady’s chair or holding open the door. It might be offering them the last roll on the table. Compliment them. If you are a nice person, then show them.
