You will have many different choices when it comes to wedding bands. They range in size, style and in price. Because everyone has different tastes and budget, there is no one “perfect band.” There are different things you will need to consider. The following are tips on choosing a band for your wedding.
How big of a band do you want?
You can get a band with practically any amount of people that you want. Obviously, in general the larger the band the more money it will cost. Adding more people can add to the sound but returns start to be less as you go up and up in people. The bigger it is, the grander, but even a small band can sound great.
Get a feel for the quality of the different bands
Obviously you want a quality band. The skills of musicians range greatly. There are different ways you will be able to ascertain their skill. The best way is if you actually went to a wedding that they played at because then you will get a complete idea of how they did at the wedding. Many bands will have demo tapes or videos that they can give you. Other bands will let you come and hear them play. You can also go off of recommendations as well. You may pay more for a more skilled and experienced band.
Think about whether you want a particular music style
Some bands have a particular style. For instance, you could get a Celtic band. If you want a particular style, then focus on that.
How much do you have to spend?
Bands can be extremely expensive. You can spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a band. You might want to price compare because some bands are a lot more than others and are not better. Obviously, you might want to pay more for something extra but do not pay more for no reason. Sometimes they might negotiate with you. Also consider how long they will play for and how much they will charge if you want them to work for extra time. Consider the breaks they want to take.
Consider what else they do
Some people might want their bands to help lead the wedding and keep things organized, especially if they do not have a wedding coordinator. See what other services to provide if you have such needs.
Consider the above points when choosing a band for your wedding.
