Many little kids dream of being cowboys, riding atop a magnificent horse. With a love for this animal adopted early on for many children, it can make a fitting theme for a bulletin board. There are many ways to design such a board.
Photographs of different types of horses
Many children learn visually. Especially for children who are too young to read, you can include a lot of photographs of different types of horses on your bulletin board. If any of the children own or have photographs of horses, then you can post those up as well to get them involved.
Have the children draw horses as an art project
You can let the children explore their creativity by drawing, painting or otherwise designing their own horse. You can post these up on the bulletin board so that they can feel like they had a part in it. You can also have them do a different art project to post up such as a miniature saddle made from fabric.
Write in information about horses
Especially older children might enjoy reading about some information about these common animals. One item is to write how horses and humans interact. You can talk about how they are used in farming, to ride on, etc. You can talk about what they did in the past and how they evolved today. You can give details about the horses such as how long they live, what they eat, how big they get, the different types, etc. You can talk about the groups that they live in and how they care for their young. You can intersperse these with the photographs. You can also make it into a story about horses. It can be in a comic book style where the main character is a horse and he gives some facts about horses.
Place up actual items related to horses
You want your bulletin board to stand out. You can post up different items that are related to horses or riding them. For instance, you can put in a nail to hang up a rider’s helmet. You can put in hay.
You want your bulletin board to be visually attractive. You can have a plain background or you can line it in fabric, wrapping paper or even wall paper that has horses on it. You can use one or a combination of the above ideas. You can also use a nice border and add embellishments like horse-related stickers. With a little effort and creativity, you can have a great horse-themed bulletin board.
