How to Distinguish between Identical Twins

It can be difficult to distinguish between identical twins. If you do not know them well, then they may look completely exactly alike to you. The following tactics may help you tell the difference.
Look for hair differences
Oftentimes, identical twins do not have the exact same haircut. Even if one’s hair is a couple of inches longer, it can still make them easily distinguishable. Try to look at their hair to see if they have any of these differences because you may not notice it on your first look. Sometimes they have the same hair but they wear it in different ways. Of course be on the lookout for any new haircuts.
Look for scars/marks
Sometimes a person will get a tiny scar or other mark. You can look to see if either of the twins has such a thing. One of them may have a visible tattoo. One of them may have sustained an injury that changed a little something.
Consider whether they are the same weight
Even small weight differences can make a person look different. You probably do not want to ask if one is heavier, but you may just realize that one is and this may lead you to tell the difference. Be on the lookout for changes in weight as time goes on.
Look for differences in dress
Although identical twins look alike, they may not dress alike. If you are familiar with the particular clothing that each owns, then you may be able to use this to distinguish them. You may also notice that one just has a different style than the other. Remember that a lot of identical twins share some of the same clothing, however, so do not let that trip you up.
Look for differences in personality
Just because they look alike does not mean that they act alike. A lot of identical twins are extremely different. They may talk in different tones of voice and say different things. They may have different expressions. One may be more introverted while the other is extroverted. Look for these differences.
As you get to know the identical twins you may start to see little differences in them. As time goes on you may not even need to look for something specific but you will just know instead. You can also ask them because there may be something of which you are not thinking. Otherwise the above tips can help you tell them apart.
