Ways Teenagers can Show their Appreciation on Fathers Day

(549 Words)
As a teenager you may have difficulty expressing your appreciation to the man that raised you. Now it is Father’s Day, and you want to do something special. There are many gestures that can create memories to last a lifetime.
Spend time with your father
It may sound so simple, and yet merely spending time with your father can mean a world of difference. When you were younger, you may have spent a great deal of time with your father, reading books and taking camping trips. As kids mature into teenagers they often become involved with school and friends, and may not spend as much time with their fathers. If this is the case, then make Father’s Day a special time to spend together. Take him out somewhere special such as a favorite restaurant or a sports game. If he has been asking to go camping for months, then take him up on the offer. Let him know that he is a priority.
Write a journal for him
You do not need to be a bestselling author in order to create a magical journal for your father. You can write about all of the amazing things your father has done for you. Tell him about all of the special memories that you have from growing up. He may not realize how much of an impact he has had on you. You can write about why you admire him. This can become a treasured keepsake that he will keep forever.
Tell him
There are so many unspoken words between teenagers and fathers. Showing your gratitude may be as simple as telling him how much you love him and how much you appreciate all that he has done for you. Sometimes these sentiments are more meaningful than the most expensive gift of all.
Create a scrapbook
A scrapbook can be a special memento that he can look through and show to others. You can fill it with photographs of you and your dad. Look for special mementoes from the past such as a ticket stub to a sports game you attended. Make it personal and meaningful.
Help him
Even without spending a cent, you can do a great deal to help your father. Perhaps the outside fence has needed painting for years. Maybe there is some work around the house that needs to be done. You may be able to fix something for him. Think about any chores or projects that would be very helpful. You can either do it with him as something special to do together or you can do it yourself and surprise him.
Make something for him
With your own special skills, create something special for your father. If you are a writer, then make a poem for him. If you are an artist, then draw a pictures of you with your father. A teenager with an interest in photography may make a special photograph. One who is skilled in woodworking can look to that. He will be touched that you spent the time to make something just for him.
Your father helps you every day of the year, and on Father’s Day you want him to know how much you appreciate him. A teenager should think carefully to find the perfect meaningful gesture for Father’s Day.
