A bulletin board can be a fitting way to celebrate December in your preschool classroom. You can create a board related to this festive month in many different ways.
Celebrate the holidays of December
Some teachers will choose to celebrate the different holidays that occur in the month of December. You may make a display of items that are related to Christmas such as Christmas trees, wreaths, Santa Claus and more. You may put images that are related to Hanukkah such as menorahs, a Jewish star and a dreidel. You can also show traditions that are related to these holidays such as the singing of carols, the giving of presents, family meals and so forth. You can get the children involved in the bulletin board by having them draw pictures of their own family holiday traditions. If you have some preschool students who do not celebrate these holidays, then you can just have them draw themselves doing something special with their family. Make sure to be aware of what you are permitted to do with regards to a display about a religious holiday.
Celebrate the winter
December heralds the beginning of the winter season. A bulletin board can help to teach the preschool students about this season. You can make the bulletin board look like a winter wonderland. You can use white construction paper and poster board to make a winter scene. You can show icy trees and snow on the ground. You can even make a snowman out of cotton balls. You can show the different fun things that one can do during the winter such as sledding, skiing, making snow angels and more. If you want to get the kids involved, then have them draw pictures of what they like to do in the winter. You can also have them make their own little snowman crafts that you can post up. They can also make paper snowflakes for the board. They simply need to take a piece of white construction paper and fold it up many times. Give them some safety scissors and have them cut around the edges. When they open it, each will have their own unique snowflake. They can further embellish them with glitter, markers, paints or sequins.
A bulletin board about December can be a lot of fun for preschool-aged children. You may want to incorporate one of the ideas above into your project.
