There are many Christmas gifts that kids can make themselves. Even if they cost next to nothing, these are often the most special of gifts because of the time, effort and creativity put forth by the children.
Personalized collage
One nice idea is to have the children make a collage representing the likes of their loved one. They can start with a piece of construction paper. If the collage is for their father then they will then glue a picture of him in the middle. They can then look through magazines and newspapers for pictures and words that represent him. For instance, if he likes sports, then they may cut out a picture of a football player. If they see a headline that says “Superman” then they can cut that out and include it. They can include as many pictures as they want. When they have finished, you can frame it, and it can be something very special for the loved one to hang on their wall.
Christmas ornaments
There are many different types of Christmas ornaments that can be made for a Christmas present. You can take a Styrofoam ball and attach glitter, stickers and other items to it. You can then attach a string or an open paperclip to it so that it can hang from a tree. You can also make a paper craft. You can draw a picture and then attach it to a string. You can also add the person’s name or year on it.
Letter
If the child is old enough to write, then a heartfelt letter can make a wonderful Christmas gift. They can write an entire page about the person saying why they love them and special memories. You can then frame it. Also, they can write a poem for the person.
Decorated picture frame
You can purchase a plain wooden picture frame as well as paints or markers that can go on it. You can then have the children decorate it as they wish. They can draw pictures or write a special saying such as “Merry Christmas!” You can then put in a picture of the child or of them with the person who will be receiving the gift.
There are many great Christmas presents that children can make on their own. Make sure that you pick something that is age appropriate. Also make sure that you allow them to do it by themselves so that it is truly a homemade gift.
