During the holiday season, many people overwork themselves. They may feel like they have to please everyone all the time. Yet the obligations can be far too much, and many get “stressed out” during what should be a fun and special time. Learn to say no
It is okay not to agree to every single request for the holiday season. If baking that extra batch of cookies for the school holiday sale is just too much, then do not do it. You are only one person and you can only do so much. You may be surprised at how many people would understand if you just honestly explain that you cannot do something. Also, be careful about offering more than you can handle. Of course the holidays are about giving, and you want to be kind and charitable, but that does not mean that you should offer so much that you are just going to be overwhelmed trying to please everyone. You need to take care of yourself too.
Choose the functions to attend
You may feel like you have to please everyone by saying yes to each and every function to which you are invited. The problem may be that you are invited to too many things. You may run to two, three or even four or more parties in one day. This may be overwhelming and not a lot of fun. If you just cannot handle it, then perhaps you can alternate the years that you go to different events.
Give yourself some down time
You may not imagine that down time and the holiday season go together, but they can if you need them to. Remember that you may not please anyone if you are obviously so stressed out. Find some time that you can take that relaxing bath or read your leisure book.

You may find that you can please everyone and yourself if you can get some help. It might be worth it to splurge on a babysitter so that you can have the time you need to get ready for the holidays.
