Cheap Halloween Costume Ideas for Kids
You want your child to have an adorable costume, but you do not have a lot of money to spend. If you are clever and creative, however, you can still come up with a great costume. Consider the following ideas.
Ghost
This is probably the easiest costume to make and you probably already have the ingredients in your home. Simply get a white pillowcase, sheet or tablecloth. Drape it over your child and cut out holes for the child eyes, nose and mouth. You now have a little ghost.
Witch
A lot of little girls love to be witches for Halloween. You can often find this online for very little since it is so popular. You can also just take a black dress. You can cut at the bottom so that the hem is uneven and you can do the same for the sleeves. Get her a pointy hat and a broom, and she is set.
Angel
An angel Halloween costume can be very sweet for a little girl and not very expensive. You can use any sweet white dress, especially if it is chiffon. She might already have something in her closet that will work. You can purchase a halo or you can make your own. You can usually find inexpensive “wings” at the store.
Cat
A cat costume can be just perfect for Halloween. You can get a black long sleeve shirt and black pants. You can attach some fabric as a tail. You can then get a headband and attach two little pieces of fabric as cat ears. You can draw on whiskers and you are done.
Dog
A dog can be made very similarly to a cat. You can use a brown colored pants and shirt if you want. The ears should be floppy. You might be able to buy these inexpensively as well. You can also make a collar for them to wear around their necks.
Teacher
Your child might find it funny to dress up as a teacher. They just need to wear something that looks like a suit or what an adult would wear. Many kids already have something like this. They can wear their hair in a professional manner like a bun or French twist for girls and carry a ruler or folder labeled “Teacher’s folder.”
There are many great Halloween costumes for kids that will not break the budget. You can also look for sales and clearance to save money on a variety of outfits.
