No matter how great your wedding dress is, it can be a problem if it does not fit correctly. Most women will get one or more wedding dress fittings. There are different things to consider when getting this done, including the following points.
Be sure to get it done in enough time for the wedding
Remember that it is likely to take more than a single day to get your wedding dress fitting done. Sometimes it takes several fittings. You do not want to wait so long that you run out of time or you do not get one that is fitted perfectly. You can ask the seamstress how long it will take to do.
If you are going to be changing sizes then do not do it too early
There is a fine balance you must walk between doing a wedding dress fitting too soon or too late. Taking into account that you want them to have enough time to do the fitting, you also want to make sure that you do not change size after they do it only to have to need it altered further when it fit perfectly. Many women try to lose weight for their big day. Even a little weight can make the difference between a gown fitting you perfectly and being too tight or too loose. This is especially important if you have a very fitted style such as a strapless gown. You certainly do not want that coming down!
Make sure to bring all of the shoes that you might wear
A lot of women wear shoes with considerable heels on their wedding day, and this can affect how long or short your gown is. Make sure that you have these with you for the day of the wedding dress fitting. Also, consider any shoes you might be changing into. Some women change into a more comfortable shoe for the reception, for instance, and if it is a different size, then you might have a problem. They do make more comfortable shoes that give you some lift. Talk to the person doing the fitting about what you might wear on your feet.
Make sure it is not too tight
You want to be able to sit, dance and breathe at your wedding. Some seamstresses get a little too eager in going for that thin look. You should be comfortable in your gown, and get it taken out otherwise.
Bring the undergarments you will wear
Your undergarments can make a big difference in the fit, and you should have these with you at the fitting.
You want your wedding gown to fit just perfectly on your special day. If you are not happy with something, then speak up! This is your day, and no matter how many fittings it takes you want it right. Consider the above points for your wedding dress fitting to make sure that everything is perfect for you.
