Housework doesn’t have to be boring. If you utilize the right strategies you can even make it fun. Consider the following tactics.
Put on music and get dancing
Just because you are doing housework does not mean that you can’t be dancing at the same time. You can move your body while you scrub those floors. Get on some music that you really enjoy and let yourself dance to it. You might even find that you get your housework done quicker and can get your heart moving too in this healthy activity!
Do it with a friend
You can turn housework time into some quality time with a friend. You can make a deal that you will each help each other out at your respective houses. You can talk about whatever you want. You may have so much fun in your conversation that the day goes by before you even realize it. You can even turn it into a fun competition to see who can do the work the fastest. This might also propel you to get everything done in record time.
Alternatively you can do it with a member of your family such as your children. It can also be a great lesson to teach them in doing chores and making it a little less painful for them.
If you do not have someone over then consider talking on the telephone while you do it. There are many speakerphones and Bluetooth handless devices that make it easy to clean even while you are having an entire conversation with someone that you enjoy talking to.
Watch television
There is no reason why you can’t multitask to make housework more fun. If you are working in a room such as doing the dishes, then you can turn on a favorite television show. You may pay attention to that and not even think about the fact that you are doing housework. You can also have the radio on to some sort of informative program. There are many books on tape that you can also put on that you might find interesting.
Just because housework is work does not mean it has to be boring. Try to do it at a time when you are feeling energetic and excited to be productive. Also, by following the above tactics, you can even make it fun. Try to do different things on different days to keep it fresh.
