A new dining room set can transform your dining room and even your house. You want something that looks fabulous, however you might not have the budget of the stars. Consider the following ideas to save money on this product.
Look for sales
Just like other stores many furniture stores like Rooms To Go offer sales. You can often save a significant amount of money by purchasing during these events. You should especially look during big holiday weekends such as Black Friday, the big shopping day the day after Thanksgiving.
In addition to sales, many stores have clearance sections. The furniture may have been floor models, ones that were slightly damaged (sometimes almost unnoticeably) or ones that they are just trying to clear out. For instance, City Furniture has a large clearance section attached to its corporate headquarters in South Florida. The wares change often in these centers so if you cannot find one that suits you right away then you can wait and go back later.
Look at less expensive stores
Some stores are just less expensive. For instance, Costco sells beautiful dining room sets for a fraction of the cost of other places. As far as furniture stores go, Rooms To Go and City Furniture are two of the most reasonable.
Look for something that is pre-owned
You may be able to pay only a fraction of the price by buying a dining room set that was pre-owned. Just because someone else owned it does not mean that it is in bad condition – people do sell like new sets when they suddenly have to move. If it is going to perpetually be covered with a tablecloth, then it might not even matter. You can find these at yard sales, estate sales, antique stores and on the Internet at places like Craigslist and www.ebay.com.
Consider buying the chairs separately
At some furniture stores, the table is not the most expensive part of the dining room set, but instead the chairs might be over $200 each! You might be able to save money by purchasing these two things separately. You can buy the table from a nice furniture store but then see if you can get less expensive chairs.
A dining room set can go a long way in the attractiveness and functionality of your dining room. Consider the above strategies to help you save money on this item.
