:
(404 Words)
Just because you do not have a lot of money does not mean that you can’t make your child a great Halloween costume. In fact even ten dollars can get you somewhere. Consider the following ideas.
Ghost
You can make a ghost costume for any child of any age for hardly anything. You can simply take a white pillowcase and make holes for the eyes, nose and mouth. For an older child you can get a white sheet or tablecloth from a discount source. You can even just get some inexpensive white fabric. You just make the holes, drape it over them, tell them to say “boo,” and you are done.
Little kitty cat
A cat outfit can often be made with items you already have or inexpensive items you can buy. Simple buy black pants or leggings and a long sleeve black shirt. The take a long piece of cloth and attach is to the rump as a tail. Get a headband and glue or otherwise affix two triangular pieces of cloth for the ears.
Little pumpkin
An orange pillow case can get you stared on your pumpkin costume. You can buy one that is already this color or you can dye it. At the bottom make two holes that can fit the child’s legs, but try to make them only big enough just to fit them. They can step into the pillowcase and you can then fill it with big pieces of newspaper so that it puffs out. At the top you can sew or attach a couple of long pieces of cloth so that you can tie the pillowcase up over their shoulders and keep it from falling down. You might also want to sew or pin it together at the top so that it isn’t as wide.
With not a lot of money to spend, you should consider going all out with makeup (if you feel that your child is old enough to wear it). For instance, with the cat costume mentioned above, if you draw in some whiskers, it will look much more authentic and might help to make up for the simplicity of the costume. Makeup is usually not too expensive and you might be able to use something you already have.
Even with not a lot of money you can make a great Halloween costume. Use the above ideas to make one for ten dollars or less.
