A bounce house is a wonderful addition to a children’s birthday party. You will have your choice of renting or buying a bounce house, and both present very viable options. There are different things to consider when making this decision, thus there is no one right answer for everyone. The following are tips for deciding whether to buy or rent a bounce house for a children’s party.
Are you going to use it more than once?
A bounce house may cost almost as much to rent as it does to buy. A lot of times, even if you are going to use it only once more, you would save money by buying it instead of renting it. Thus if you see yourself using it multiple times for different parties or just for your kids to play in themselves, it might be a worthwhile investment to purchase it.
Do you have a place to store it?
A deflated bounce house takes up only a fraction of the space that it uses when open. However, it is still not miniscule. You will have to make sure that you have a good place to store it. It needs to be somewhere where it will not get wet (because it can get mold) and where it will stay in good shape.
Can you handle setting it up and taking it down?
A lot of bounce houses are big, cumbersome and weigh a lot. You will need to be able to physically handle it (or have someone that can). Otherwise you might need to rent it just to have someone do it.
Consider liability
Many of the bounce house companies have insurance so that if something happens they have some coverage. You might not. If you are concerned that this would be an issue – that someone would sue you if there was a problem – then you might want to consider renting it.
Do you want a big or special one?
If your child has her heart set on a giant bounce house obstacle course, then that would be a much more difficult thing to buy. The price goes up exponentially as does the size and ability of you to handle it. The bigger and more extravagant it is, the more sense it might make to rent it.
Buying and renting a bounce house are both good options. Consider the above points when deciding which one is right for you.
