78 Words: 14 Why Attractions and Theme Parks should allow Guests to Bring in their own Food
2611 Words: 482
Many attractions limit the amount or type of food that guests can bring in. Many do not allow guests to bring in food at all. They usually do this in order to make more money with their concessions. Oftentimes, this is a big mistake that can end up backfiring on them and in some cases actually lose them money if they lose customers all together. The following are some reasons why attractions and theme parks should allow guests to bring in their own food.
Some people just won’t come
There are some people who just will not go to an attraction if they cannot bring their own food. Either it is about convenience, having what they like, principle, health or another reason, but they will refuse to go. Many of these big attractions charge a lot of money just to get into the park, and they lose far more if someone doesn’t come at all than they would lose just if that person doesn’t bring in food. Oftentimes people come in large families or big groups to attractions, and if one person gets upset about it, then the entire group might not go.
The person might be less likely to come back or have a negative experience
If someone doesn’t know about the policy and then has to throw out the food, they might go in but then not come back again. It might cause them to have a bad experience. They may fight with the staff at the gate, which would not look good for the attraction. Also, they may share their bad experience with others, who then might be less likely to go in.
Many people will buy food anyways, even if you are allowed to bring in
Unlike movie theaters, when you go to a large attraction that you are at for all day, many people will buy food anyways. Many attractions will lose very little by relaxing this rule. It is clearer why movie theaters do not allow food. They make a lot of their money on concessions, and it is easy to bring in a little candy, so many people would do it if they were allowed to. It is not so easy to bring in a meal for four to an attraction you will be at for all day so it is probably a small percentage that this restriction stops.
People have food allergies and other dietary restrictions
Most of the attractions sell a lot of relatively unhealthy and salty food such as pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. Many people have restrictions, are on diets or have allergies that make it hard for them. This rule can be very frustrating to them.
Surprisingly, Disney world, one of the biggest theme parks, DOES allow people to bring in food. The more local attractions should as well. They should consider the above tips when thinking about this rule.
