Dangers of Sharing Makeup
(408 Words)
It is very important not to share makeup. Doing so can open you up to a host of health problems and concerns. This goes for many different types of makeup, and even if the person is close to you. You should avoid this practice for the following reasons:
According to Discovery Fit and Health, sharing makeup equates to sharing germs. When you use makeup brushes, bacteria can get on them. In addition, the bacteria may live in the containers in which you keep them, so even if you have not just used the makeup, the germs can still be there. If someone else uses your makeup, or if you use their makeup, these germs can transfer from one to the other. This can make you more likely to get infections.
Many people have different skin problems. Someone may have a pimple or infection on their face and don’t even realize it. If they use the makeup on that and then you use the same makeup, you could get the bacteria and end up with the same infection.
You can also share other infections or problems with makeup such as lipstick. For instance, if you use lipstick and you have a cold or virus, then your friends can get that as well. Remember that you are often contagious even before you show symptoms of a condition. Even if you seem like you are fine, you may still be spreading something to your loved one.
Likewise, you might get something from someone else. This could range from something small like a common cold to something much more serious such as the flu. Many of these can live for a while even out of the body, so again just waiting an amount of time may not prevent it from being spread.
If the makeup touches an area where you’re bleeding and that other person uses it, there might even be potential to spread something that is blood-borne.
There are many different conditions that could occur based on the type of makeup you are sharing. For instance, if you share eye makeup and are about to get a condition such as pinkeye, then you could share that with your friend. You do not want to be responsible.
Remember that when you share makeup, you may also be sharing germs, bacteria and a host of undesirable conditions. Even if you are tempted to share these, it is very important not to do so.
