Pros and Cons to Exercising at Night

(450 Words)
With its many health benefits, exercise is an important activity to participate in on a daily basis. There is no one time of the day that is the best to exercise, however, and many people exercise according to their own schedule, which is often at night after work and after their children have gone to sleep. There are different advantages and disadvantages to exercising at night.
Advantages
For some, the main advantage is that night is simply the only time that they can exercise. You may have to work all day and not have any free time until the evening. This may be the only time that you can dedicate to it. If you are a stay-at-home mom, you may need to wait until the night when the kids are asleep or your spouse comes home to watch the kids. Also, you may like to do it when everything else is done for the day so that you do not feel like you have to rush or schedule it in.
Some people enjoy exercising at night. You may find that it helps get out your energy or anxiety after a long day of work. It may be something you enjoy doing.
Or, you may find more opportunities for exercising during the evening. For instance, if you are in a sport or have a workout buddy, the only time when everyone is free may be during the evening.
Disadvantages
You should also consider the various disadvantages of exercising at night. Many people feel energized after exercising. Because of that, it might not be the best activity to do right before bed, especially if you have insomnia. It may be much more difficult for you to fall asleep.
If you exercise at night, you may end up not getting to it if other things on your schedule end up taking too much time. For instance, if you exercise first thing in the morning, then you do not need to worry about something else coming up. If you choose to do it at night, then it may get put off if other things come up.
Many people like to go out at night. You might want to go to dinner or do other things, which would conflict with the exercising. You may have to choose one.
Another disadvantage of exercising at night is that you may simply be too tired. Some people are just exhausted after a long day and find that they do not have the energy to do it.
There are both pros and cons to exercising at night. Consider whether you are a night person as well as your schedule when deciding whether this is a good time for you.
