Low Cost Baby Activities
(427 Words)
You want to do a lot of different activities with your new baby, however you might not have hundreds of dollars to spend on expensive mommy and me classes. Fortunately, there are a number of low cost, and even free, activities for parents who have babies. This will range based on the exact area, but may include the following:
Library activities
Libraries offer free and low cost activities for parents with babies. Even young babies can benefit from being read to. Look at your local branches to see what is offered for the youngest age group.
Mom Clubs
Different mother’s groups, such as chapters of Moms International, welcome parents with babies. Generally, you pay once a year dues that are extremely reasonable. Many of the activities are then free. Some of the groups have subgroups specifically for parents of babies. For instance, they may have a baby playgroup that meets once a week. Your baby can grow up with children that are the same age.
Open gym
There are various gyms made for young babies. In these, babies can crawl, bounce or play with toys. Sometimes they have bounce houses. These places may be made for children of all ages but offer a special area just for young babies. Many of these offer open gym for under $10.
Children’s museum
Children’s museums allow babies to explore the world around them. Museums such as the Young at Art Museum in Davie, Florida, allow kids to crawl through different areas. Look to see what areas your local museums offer for babies.
Community events
Look to see what free or low cost fairs or festivals your area offers. For instance, a lot of cities offer Halloween fairs, Easter egg hunts, winter parades and so forth. Read the descriptions to see what might be best for the age of your child.
Parks/Playgrounds
Even if your child is too young to swing on the monkey bars, he or she may still be able to play at a playground. Look around to see if there are playgrounds that have areas for little babies. Even if your child is too young to do a playground, you can take your baby on nature walks.
Walking stroller groups
If you want to get some exercise and socialization, then consider a walking stroller group. These meet in parks or communities and may be free or cost a few dollars. The babies can enjoy the fresh air.
Many organizations and businesses offer free or low cost activities for those with babies. These benefit both the parent and child.
