(408 Words)
April Fools’ Day is a fun day for children of all ages. There are different activities that you can do with kids that can be fun and even educational. Consider the following ideas.
Have them draw a picture of someone playing an April Fools’ Day prank on another
This might be a good project for art class. The children could draw a picture of someone playing an April Fools’ Day joke on another person. They could even make it like a comic strip with different pictures in a sequence and have the people talking in clouds. It could be of an actual April Fools’ Day that they played or was played on them or something from their imagination.
Have a discussion and write down good April Fools’ Day pranks versus bad ones.
Some children may have difficulty distinguishing a harmless joke such as pretending that you found a roach in the cereal from a poor one such as telling them that someone has died. This is an important lesson to learn. You can brainstorm with the children on what makes a good prank versus a bad prank. They could do a worksheet such as identifying jokes as good or bad or you can do an activity in the class. You can even have them act out the different pranks as well. This could be a good educational opportunity.
Have the children write out a description of an April Fools’ Day prank
If you want the children to practice their writing skills, then you could have them write out a description of an April Fools’ Day prank that either they perpetrated or had done to them. You could make it as short or as long as you want it, and this may depend on their age and writing skills.
April Fools’ Day craft
Another idea that allows the children to use some creativity is to do an April Fools’ Day craft. For instance, they could write different pranks on a bookmark or something else. You could have them make something that could be used in such a prank such as a fake bug that they could plant in someone’s food. Let them use their creativity and make sure that it is geared to the age of the children.
April Fools’ Day can be a lot of fun for children, and there are some great activities that they can take part in. Consider the above activities when planning this day.
