Building Toys

Many children love to build, no matter how old and what gender they are. There are a lot of different building toys from which to choose, many of which are educational. A child who likes to build might want a variety of these different toys:
Legos
Legos are one of the best selling building toys for children. These sets are usually indicated for children who are three years and up and they specify the best ages for the different sets. These sets will often relate to a specific character, television show or movie such as Harry Potter.
You can buy many that are educational, such as a Lego set of the White House. Some sets are so complicated or contain so many pieces that they are good for teenagers. These sets can also make beautiful pieces to display. You can also just get random Lego pieces so that the child can use his or her imagination to come up with the perfect creation.
Building blocks
Very young children will enjoy building blocks. They make many different types of wood blocks, but make sure you get one that is large enough if your children are under three. Sometimes the blocks are too small and can be choking hazards. Look at the packaging to see the safety requirements.
Building blocks can be very educational. They will often come with letters on the side. They may have numbers, words or pictures on the sides as well. As you build with your child, quiz him or her on these things. They make it more fun for the child to play with. You can also buy building blocks that pertain to a certain subject. They make large ones for very young children.
Models
Your child can also build model vehicles such as planes, trains and cars. They make kits for children of all different ages. Some are much easier or more complicated than others, but they can provide hours of fun. Many of these also really move. For instance, your child can build a model airplane that actually flies. You can also buy a model that is a replica of something from history like a plane that flew in a war. When your child is older, he or she can display the model and it can become an heirloom piece.
