Bulletin Board Ideas Animals and their Habitats

Many kids love animals, thus this can be a fitting subject for a bulletin board. You can focus on both the animals and the habitats in which they live. Consider the following ideas.
Put up stuffed animals as the animals
Many kids love stuffed animals. You can put different little dolls on the board, and then show bigger photographs of the habitats in which they live. The children may be drawn to a board that has something standing out on it.
Make the bulletin board be interactive
There are different ways to make the bulletin board be something that the children can participate in. First, you can get small inexpensive voice recorders and record the sounds that some animals make. You can mount these on the board next to pictures of the different animals and their habitats so that when the kids push the buttons they can hear what the animals and their homes sound like. You can also have the children see the different habitats of animals and need to guess which animals live there. You can put up some paper “doors” over the pictures of the animals. On the doors can be the image of the habitat. The children can then open the doors to see what type of animal lives there. You can also have all of the habitats on one side and all of the animals on another and have the children try to match them. You can have the animals be on detached laminated paper that can Velcro to the habitats so the kids can get the sheets with the animals on them and Velcro them to the right spot.
Have the children draw pictures of different animals and where they live
Let the children create part of the bulletin board. You can assign them different animals and have them use crayons, markers, paints and other art supplies to make their animal scenes. You can then post these on the board as part of the display.
Photographs of the animals in their natural environments
Sometimes it is best to go simple. The children may learn best by seeing vivid pictures of the animals and where they live. You can focus on as many or as few animals as you’d like. Depending on the age of the children, you can also include information such as the climate where they live, the groups in which they live in, where they sleep and so forth.
A bulletin board about animals and their habitats can be a great way to teach children about the world of nature. Consider the above ideas for creating your board.
