You may gain weight if you are eating too much or too badly and suffer the related consequences
Someone under financial stress may use eating as a form of making themselves feel better. They may eat unhealthy foods. They may not feel like they have money for healthy food (even though there are many inexpensive ways that you can eat healthy) and they may instead eat a lot of fast food because it is cheap and easy. Eating unhealthy food can hurt your health in many ways. First it can lead you to be overweight or even obese, which can increase your chances of cardiovascular problems. You may have higher cholesterol or blood pressure.
When you are under financial stress you may not take the time to do things healthy for your body. You may be up late worrying about the money or even working and that can affect how much sleep you get, the healthy exercise you get and more.
You may take up a bad habit such as smoking or drinking
When people are stressed about financial matters, they often do not know what to do. They may decide to smoke in order to calm themselves. Smoking is obviously very detrimental to your health, and can increase your risk of a wide array of conditions from lung cancer to stroke to heart disease and more. Also, many people decide to drink a little more when they are having financial difficulties. They may use it as a means to escape so that they do not have to think about the money problems they are having. It can affect your liver and increase your chances of a number of conditions.
Financial stress is all too common, and can affect your health in many ways. You should take all of the steps you can to control it so that it does not affect your health.
