2428 Words: 432
Business is very competitive nowadays. Many people are scaling back, so you have to be something special to be the one that people choose. The following are some ways to keep ahead of competitors in business.
Give great customer service
Sometimes what makes the difference is what you do when something goes wrong. It is amazing at how poor many companies are at customer service. Sometimes it is just a matter of being courteous, and yet so often people in customer service departments lose customers because they have a poor attitude or are rude to their customers. It is often worth it to give in a little in order to keep a customer. When you make a customer angry or upset, not only do you alienate that particular customer, but they may share their story with other people. Especially now with the Internet and so many easy ways to communicate, people can spread their negative story far and wide. Alternatively, if you have given them good service, then this is what they will tell people. There are many websites where people leave different reviews of products and websites. A lot of people look towards these reviews when making decisions about what to buy or what companies to utilize. Oftentimes, you will see that in addition to reviewing the product itself, they will talk about the customer service. If they had a problem, but the company did right by them, then they might be more likely to be lenient in their review. Likewise if someone had a bad experience with a company then they might give a negative review even if the product was okay.
Go the extra mile
There are many ways in which you can go the extra mile for someone. Perhaps you throw in something for free. Perhaps you get something done sooner than you say it is going to be. Basically it is about giving somebody something beyond their expectations. What this will be will depend on the business that you are in, but in almost every business there will be a way that you can do more.
Be courteous
It does not cost anything to be nice to someone, and yet people might want to utilize your business if you are such. This might be especially important in a business that provides experiences such as a restaurant. No matter what the food is like, it will make a difference if you have an extremely nice waitress compared to one that is rude. Being nice to someone can make people want to come to you instead of your competitors.
