You want someone who will be able to give you an appointment. If your child is sick you do not want to have to wait until the following week to see the doctor. Many pediatricians will give same day sick visits. You should look for this. You might also want to find someone who will be able to fit you in for well visits in a reasonable amount of time.
You do not wait a long time in the office
You do not want to be sitting with your poor sick child in a waiting room for hours. Obviously, almost all doctors’ offices will have days like this, but it should be the exception and not the rule. In general, the wait times should be reasonable, especially for visits that have been pre-planned and aren’t the “fit me in” type.
