2520 Words: 473
Cake may be the stereotypical birthday party dessert, but it is far from your only option. There are many alternatives that will work no matter what the reason is that you do not want cake, whether it is that your child doesn’t like cake, has allergies or you just want something different. The following are some great choices of dessert instead of cake.
Ice cream
Ice cream is a favorite among many youngsters. Many kids think that its taste far surpasses cake, thus this can be a very good option. You will have many different flavors of ice cream from which to choose. If your child has a peanut allergy, it can be difficult to find a cake that is not made in a facility that processes peanuts, however, you can often find ice cream that is safe for them to have (make sure that you read the box label carefully because some will be okay and others will not). You can have one or a lot of different types. One fun thing to do is to let the kids make their own ice cream sundaes. You could have out the ice cream and other toppings such as whipped cream, different kids of sprinkles, cherries, nuts, candies, cookies or whatever else you think that they would like. This can be a lot of fun for them to do.
Giant cookie
At many malls, they have stores that sell cookies. You can often buy a big cookie instead of a cake and they will decorate it just like they would decorate a cake. This can be a lot of fun and very unique. It can be just perfect for the child who loves cookies.
Fondue
One very fun idea is to have a fondue. You can have out a bunch of items such as fruits and other treats. You can put out chocolate and let the children dip into the chocolate. They even have machines that make little fountains. This can be quite delicious and a lot of fun.
Miscellaneous treats
There are many other treats that you can use as an alternative to cake. If your child likes pie, there are many versions such as key lime pie, pumpkin pie, apple pie and more. There are also brownies. If you like the idea of something cake like but you do not want to have to deal with the mess or cutting, you could have cupcakes. You could also have rice krispie treats or a variety of cadies. You could have fudge. You could also have fruit for those that want a healthier option. You can have one of these items or make an entire dessert table (just make sure the kids don’t overindulge to the point of sickness!)
A birthday party can still be great without cake. Consider the above options as alternatives.
