Playground equipment can be a wonderful investment for your children. When you go shopping you will find a wide variety of sets available. It might cost $100, $1000 or even more. There are many different types of equipment. The following is a guide to the different types of playground sets.
Different materials
Different playground sets are made of different materials. Some are wood, others are plastic, some are metal and some are made of other less common materials. These have different advantages and disadvantages. Be aware for issues that may arise from the different materials such as rust or mold.
Features
You will have many choices of features on the playground equipment. Some of the most common are:
Swings
Many kids love to play on swings. Some of them will have one swing while others might have a lot. Some might have the more traditional swings whereas some will have rings for the children to hold onto with their hands, tire swings or swings meant for multiple children. Some slides can even hold four kids.
Slides
You will see many different types of slides. Some will have more than one. The lengths will vary. Some will have tube slides that curve around.
Rock climbing wall
Playground equipment will often incorporate a rock-climbing wall, which can be fun for kids. This can vary in size.
Climbing net
Some will have a net that kids can use to climb up.
Ladders
Different playground equipment will incorporate different types of ladders.
Clubhouse
You will see clubhouses that are attached to the different playground equipment. Some will be on ground level whereas others will be on a “second story.”
Monkey bars
Many of these have monkey bars. In some sets, they go over the swings.
Picnic table
A lot of sets actually have picnic tables incorporated into them. This can make it a convenient place to have a snack while taking a break from playing.
Sandbox
They may have a sandbox in them. This can be a lot of fun for a lot of kids.
Climbers
Many of the sets have different places where the children can climb. Some of them have tubes where they can go through.
Safety issues
Different sets are appropriate for different age groups. Of course, the number one concern of most parents is safety. You are going to want to make sure that it is appropriate for the age of your child. If your children are too young then they may get hurt by falling off of something that is too difficult for them to navigate. It can even be a problem if they are too big because the equipment might not be able to take their weight. Also, you will want to make sure that the equipment is sturdy.
Playground equipment can be a great investment for your children. Consider the above information when making your selection.
