Dangers of using Expired Makeup

(399 Words)
It is very important not to use expired makeup. You may be tempted to do so to save money, however the consequences can be detrimental to your health. If the makeup product itself has an expiration date, make sure to adhere to that, or otherwise look up the recommended throw-out date for that particular type of makeup. Using expired makeup can cause the following problems:
Expired eye makeup, especially products like mascara, can cause a lot of problems. These products can end up growing bacteria when they become too old. This bacteria can then get into your eyes and cause infections, some of which can become serious and extremely painful. You do not want to play around with something that could literally affect your vision. You may also hurt the skin around your eyes by using expired makeup.
If kept clean, you can use most lipsticks for a year, according to Timeless Finance. However, if you use it beyond when it expires, you can end up with mouth sores. Make sure that you throw these out on a timely basis.
Liquid foundation can also cause a whole variety of problems if you keep it too long. The ingredients in makeup such as this will separate as time goes on. This separation may leave your face oily. You may be more likely to get acne, which can then lead to infections. You do not want a large skin infection because of your makeup. In addition, you could also get rashes.
Sometimes makeup can actually go bad before it expires, and you should always be on the lookout for this. If makeup that is supposed to be liquid starts to dry or appears separated, for instance, then you might want to throw it out. If you notice that it is getting a bad odor, then you should get rid of it. Also, the amount of time you should keep it starts from when you buy, not when you start to use it. For instance, if you have a product that lasts for a year, you can’t keep it for two just because you didn’t open it for a year. Even unopened makeup should be thrown away if it has expired.
You do not want to end up with bad skin, an infection or worse because you used expired makeup. Be cautious and get rid of makeup after it is too old.
