(439 Words)
Meditation can help work at home moms feel calmer and more relaxed. There are many easy meditation techniques that you can employ. Try the following ideas.
Visualization
One simply mediation technique is to imagine yourself in a special place. You can imagine yourself lying by the beach, calm as you listen to the gently lapping waves. You can imagine yourself in a safe place from childhood such as your grandmother’s house. Think about a place that inspires calmness and happiness within you. You can also just imagine yourself calmer or more rested.
Oftentimes you can use symbolism to help you relax in meditation. For instance, if you are exhausted from your dual role of worker and mother, you may imagine a light that is full of energy that can make you feel better. You may visualize the stress flowing away from your body.
Guided imagery
Many women who are not familiar with mediation will have difficulty just sitting down and visualizing the scenes that they want. Instead you may want to purchase an audio CD or file, which contains guided imagery. You will find many of these on the market. They are focused on different things, so you may find one that is specifically for stress relief, another that is for positive thinking and so forth. They are also of different lengths so you can consider what would work for your schedule. Find a quiet and comfortable place to relax and listen to the tape.
Conscious relaxation
Work at home moms typically balance quite a bit. They may be very stressed and tense, even if they do not feel it. This mental tension can have physical effects. One great mediation technique is to consciously relax yourself in order to help relieve some of this tension. You should find a comfortable place to sit or lie. You should then focus on different parts of your body. Some will start at their head and work down while others will start on their feet and work up. As you think about each area, you will want to specifically relax those muscles. For instance, when you are thinking about your stomach, make sure that you relax it completely. You may feel body parts relaxing that you did not even realize were clenched. You can do this once, or go through it several times until you feel that your entire body is more relaxed.
Meditation can help relieve the stress of moms who work from home. Of course the work from home mom is often short on time but the above techniques can often be helpful even if only practiced for a few minutes.
