A lot of people focus on their own appearance. Sometimes they do this for their partner, yet at times it can have the opposite effect and drive away their partner. The following are ways in which this could happen.
Their partner thinks that they are vain
If you are always focusing on your own physical appearance, then your partner might think that you are vain. A lot of people do not like others who are only concerned about themselves and about what is on the outside. They might feel that you have the wrong priorities. This may drive them away because they may want someone who is less focused on themselves and physical appearance.
Your partner feels neglected
If you are always focused on your own physical appearance, then you might be neglecting or ignoring your partner. Even if it is inadvertent, this focus might take you away from your partner. Your partner may wish that you were giving more attention to him or her and less to yourself.
You may have less time to do other things
Your appearance might take work. You might spend a lot of time doing your hair or your makeup. Your partner may get upset or frustrated by the time you are spending on this. If it really takes a lot of time, you might literally have to give up other things in order to make time for it. Many partners may get annoyed if they can’t go out because their partner is sitting at home taking care of their physical appearance. They may want to be with someone who will spend less time on it.

People spend a lot of money on their appearance. They may spend money on makeup, hair accessories, clothing, and beauty products. Some people even spend thousands of dollars on cosmetic surgery. Spending all this money might drive your partner away. They may get frustrated at seeing the money disappear for these reasons.
If you are not careful, focusing on your appearance can drive your partner away. The above points are reasons why this might happen.
