So you have gotten the wedding dress and you think you are set. Not so fast. You may have as equally a difficult time picking out the headpiece and veil for your wedding day. Consider the following tips for making this decision.
Does one come with or match the dress?
This can make your decision much easier. If you happen to buy a dress that has a matching headpiece, then this might be the logical choice. Of course you still want to try it on to make sure you like it.
If you are picking one out that doesn’t come with the dress you will want to make sure to select one that looks like it goes with the dress. You want the color to match, for instance.
Try them on and see what you like
Sometimes the best method is the simplest. You should go around to the different stores and try them on until one seems to just be perfect. You might find that one just gives you the look that you want. The other issue is that some will complement certain gowns better so you will get the best idea if you have the dress on when you are trying them on.
How will it look with the style of hair you plan to have?
Different headpieces and veils go better with certain hair styles. Of course some are specifically made for a certain type of style. You should consider that when you are trying them on. You might want to fashion your hair in the way it will be for the wedding (or as close as you can get without going to the salon) and try them on then.
What sort of look are you going for?
Some people want a very simple look and might choose a headpiece and veil to match that. They may get a simple satin band, for instance. Others might want something that really stands out and want to be Cinderella for the day so they might get a tiara with hundreds of Swarovski crystals. Some might love nature and flowers and might want a headpiece that has real flowers on it. Also, some people might use an extravagant headpiece to make a simpler dress look much nicer.
How comfortable is it?
You want to be comfortable on your wedding day. Some people will even get headaches if there is something tight in their hair. Make sure to consider this. Even if it is a little uncomfortable this can compound over the hours you are wearing for your wedding. Also consider how convenient it is. A long veil might look nice but if you find that you are tripping over it or need to hold it then it might not be worth the hassle.
