How to be Entertained while on an Exercise Bike

The exercise bike provides an aerobic, or cardio, form of exercise. Your heart rate stays up constantly, providing you with heart-healthy exercise that reduces the risk of many diseases and conditions, including high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. Unfortunately, some people have difficulty keeping to an exercise bicycle routine because they find it tedious. There are various forms of entertainment that can distract you while on the exercise bike.
Television
Both home gyms and professional gyms offer televisions where you can watch your favorite television show while biking. At some gyms, you can bring your own music player and turn to a specific channel to listen to the television. You can set up the television so that you can easily view it. If you do not have a television there, then you might be able to set up a laptop, portable DVD player or tablet to play a video. Choose a program that you find very entertaining that will draw you in.
Reading
You can read for entertainment or even work if you want to multitask while on the exercise bicycle. Obviously there are countless numbers of books and magazines from which to choose. If you want to be productive, you could read something like a self-help book. You can also read a magazine or book that is themed towards exercise such as Shape magazine. This may help to keep you more motivated as you exercise.
Surfing the Internet
With a Smartphone or even a small tablet, you can surf the Internet while on the bike. A lot of bikes come with a paper holder where you can perch different items.
Music
Listen to fast music to get into an active frame of mind. You can make yourself a fast mix or listen to your favorite recording artist. A lot of types of music can really get you moving.
Talking on the phone
If you do not exercise too hard, you can speak on the telephone while riding the bike. Ideally you would have a phone with hands-free speakerphone. There may be a place you can connect it to the bike.
Just because you are riding an exercise bike doesn’t mean you can’t entertain yourself in many different ways. When you find other things to do, you will distract yourself and the time will go faster. Before you know it, your routine will be over, and you can enjoy the many benefits of exercising.
