: How to Decide whether to have a Wedding Shower or Bachelorette Party
:
(413 Words)
A wedding shower and a Bachelorette party are two very different entities. Of course, many women would love to have both, but this is often not financially or logistically possible. The following are tips on how to decide which one to do.
Look at the personality of the bride
Certain brides are very low key and do not like to go out a lot. They might have been dreaming of a wedding shower. No matter which the bridesmaids or whoever is throwing the event prefers, when it comes down to it what is important is what the bride wants. If the bride’s personality fits more into a shower, then this should be what is given. If the bride would hate the idea of a quaint gathering and would love nothing more than to go out to “paint the town red” then a Bachelorette party might make more sense. In general the wedding shower is a much more commonplace and traditional entity. It will often be assumed that this is the one that will be done unless the bride really wants otherwise. If you are not sure then you should not just surprise her with one or the other but ask her.
Think about the guests
If it is important to the bride to have all of her elderly relatives there, then that will need to be considered. Of course, almost anyone will be up for a shower, but a Bachelorette party is another thing entirely. It might be something that a lot of her relatives would not be able to attend. Even if she would prefer it on her own, she might not when she realizes how many of her relatives could not be there.
Think about the logistics
Some people do their wedding shower or Bachelorette party right before the actual wedding, and with everything going on, one might be easier. For instance, perhaps they are busy with family every night leading up to their wedding and the only time free is for brunch. A Bachelorette party doesn’t usually take place during that time so they might go for the shower instead. You can also consider the costs associated with each, because one might be more within your budget.
When you are deciding whether to do a wedding shower or Bachelorette party you need consider all of the above factors and try to put it together. You can also try to do a small one of each with a different guest list.
