How to get your Child to take Good Pictures
You love looking at pictures of your children. They preserve a special time forever, providing a keepsake for years to come. Unfortunately, getting your children to sit for pictures may not be quite as lovely a thing. Many kids cannot sit still for even a second, making snapping a good photograph of them seemingly near to impossible. Of course the problems grow exponentially when you have multiple children. Use the following strategies to get your children to sit for pictures.
Choose a good time
First you want to make sure to carefully pick the time you are going to take the pictures. Do not pick a time when they are normally down for a nap and exhausted and cranky. Many kids are happy and wide awake right when they get up in the morning, and this could be the perfect time for you to do the pictures.
Prepare your child
You do not want to bring a tired or hungry child to get pictures. Feed him or her right before you go. Do not do something beforehand where he or she will get very hyperactive and still be so when you get to the pictures. Also, do not feed him or her anything with sugar beforehand if it makes him or her hyperactive. Make sure to bring a drink or food with you if necessary to keep him or her happy.
Carefully choose the photographer/studio
Some photographers and studios are simply much better than others at keeping children happy and calm. You want someone who can inspire that in your child. You want someone who will give you plenty of time so that if your child is acting up you can still get the pictures you desire.
Talk to your child beforehand
If your child is old enough, discuss it with your child. You can make your children a deal that you will give them something special if they behave during the pictures. For instance, perhaps you could take them to a playground after the pictures are done. For younger children, you can tell them that they will get a treat when they are done.
Come up with strategies
There are many different strategies that may work to keep your child still. You might be able to give him or her something that will keep him or her occupied. For instance, you can let a child hold on to a favorite doll or a fake flower while taking the pictures. You can also make funny faces behind the photographer. Sing songs or do whatever it takes to encourage the child to smile and take a good picture.
