A choker is a very attractive piece of jewelry that girls and women wear. They can be made out of many different materials such as lace and ribbon. This is also a relatively easy piece of jewelry that you can make.
First, you need to decide what is going to be the base fabric of your choker. One very easy way to do this is to go to the store and pick out some lace that you want to make the choker out of.
There are many different types of lace that you can buy. Go to the fabric store and bring a mirror with you. Take a little piece of each of the different tapes of lace that you are considering and hold them against your neck to see what looks the prettiest. Make sure that there are no pins in it before putting it against your neck. When you find some lace that you would like to be the base of your choker, then get enough of it so that it fits around your neck and has some left over so that you can tie it easily behind your neck without it coming undone.
Lace is not the only option for the base. You can also get ribbon or a different piece of fabric. You will have many different choices of fabrics from which you choose, and you could also combine these. For instance, you can get a wide piece of ribbon and then glue some lace on the top of it.
Once you have your lace, you can then embellish your choker. There are many different ways that you can do this. You can buy beads and simply hand sew them on. Even someone who is not accustomed to sewing can probably do that. You can also sew on sequins or crystal beads. If you do not want to sew at all, then you can also use fabric glue to attach the embellishments. Before you actually attach them, you should put them on top to see the design to make sure that you are happy with it.
You may choose to have a center stone or a cameo in the middle. If you go to a craft store such as Michael’s Arts and Crafts, you will find many embellishment options.
If the lace has been cut to the right length, then you do not need to do anything to the back. You can simply make a bow in the back and tie it onto your neck at the desired length. This is convenient because it will fit whoever wants to wear it. If you prefer, you can also add Velcro to it.
It is not difficult to make your own choker. Experiment with different types of lace and fabrics to make attractive pieces for you.
