A lot of local businesses have bulletin boards and that others to advertise their products or services. It may be in a waiting room where people may read through them. You may want to put up such a board in your own place of business so that you can trade with other companies to each advertise your business.
Put advertisements in a low cost publication
Obviously it will be expensive to advertise in a major publication, however you may be able to get a space in a much smaller piece for next to nothing. For instance, there are many community theater groups that sell spaces in their programs for very little. You can get an ad in a school yearbook or newsletter. You can put something in a small community newspaper. Think of any group that puts out newsletters or booklets and inquire with them.
Sponsor a local kids’ sports team
You will pay a lot to sponsor a major professional team, but generally not so much for a little league team. You can also just pay to have a sign up at the little league field. You can get the added bonus that people may think of you as a good-hearted company because you are giving money to a kids’ event. It can get you a lot of exposure.
Give out flyers
The cost of flyers is very little. Simply photocopy a bunch of different papers with whatever marketing materials you want. You can hand them out door to door or at some sort of event. Make sure that you know any codes or laws before you do this.
Get a booth at a community event
There are many local community events and fairs that allow people to have booths but charge very little. It may also be considered a donation as well. You can talk to people about your products and services.
