Even if they are meant to hold paper, paper clips can be used for many household roles. If you are creative, you can use them for a wide variety of jobs. This include the following:
Hanging decorations from the ceiling
Use paper clips to hang light things from the ceiling (if you have a porous ceiling). This can be great for items like party supplies where you do not want to permanently mount something onto your ceiling. Simply unbend the middle part, make one side straight, stick it into the ceiling and use the other side as a hook for the decoration.
Unclog faucet stoppers
If you have a faucet stopper with a lot of little holes, it can be difficult to unclog them. Use a paper clip to go into these spots and clean them.
Paper clips can also be used to clean other tiny areas if you wrap it with a tissue or with a cleaning wipe. For both of these jobs you need to unbend it first.
Bookmark
A paper clip works as a bookmark in a cinch. You can use it for leisure books you are reading or for a cookbook.
Shorten curtains or make hems
Instead of sewing curtains to be a little shorter, you can use paperclips to hem them. Get paperclips that match the fabric. Fold up the fabric and just clip it up. Use one after the next to keep an even hem.
Hang papers on peg boards
If you do not want to use a tack to puncture through important papers on a peg board then you can use paper clips in conjunction with them. Put up a thumb tack and hang the paper clip on it. Slide the papers into the paper clip at the bottom. This will work for lighter papers.
Wind chime
For a fun craft and cute novelty items, make a wind chime with paper clips. Get different colored paper clips and attach them one after the next to each other. At the end, hang a bell. You can put out one or a string of them to make a bunch of wind chimes.
Holiday decorations
You can also string paper clips together to make holiday decorations. Children might enjoy this as a craft. You can drape them around the Christmas tree, for instance.
