Kitchen Makeover Ideas
(484 Words)
When you think of making over your kitchen, you may envision a huge process that involves ripping out cabinetry and spending thousands of dollars. Fortunately, there are ways to do a quick and easy makeover of the kitchen that does not involve such cost, time or effort. These smaller efforts can add up and make a big difference.
First, consider the walls of your kitchen. You might be able to quickly add a coat of paint and make the entire kitchen look a lot fresher. If you do not want to spend the time to do even that, then consider adding different decorations and wall art. You may be able to take down wall hangings and replace them with something else in a matter of a few minutes, giving the entire kitchen a different look.
Think about the floors of your kitchen. Ripping out the floor will take more time than you might want in a quick makeover; however, you can add a beautiful kitchen rug to cover a dirty, unattractive or old floor. Make sure that you get a rug that is specifically made for the kitchen and can tolerate the water that might get spilled on it. You do not want to ruin a good rug or spend money on a rug that will not last because it is not made for those conditions. You could get one large rug for the entire kitchen or a series of smaller ones.
Think about the decorations that you have around your kitchen. Some people have shelving or decorations on top of cabinetry. Add new decorations or switch these out for a quick and easy new look. You may want to put in real or fake flowers and plants or decorative dishes.
You can also make changes to the cabinetry in your home. For instance, if your real wood cabinetry does not look good anymore but you cannot afford to or do not want to rip it all out and replace it, you can refinish the wood instead. If you do it correctly, you can make it look like it is brand new. You can also make other changes that will give a different look, such as changing the stain on the wood.
Look for products that you can add to make a difference to the room. For instance, even if you do not want to change out the wallpaper, perhaps you can add a wallpaper border at the very top. If you do not like the worn tile around the room but you do not want to replace all of it, then you can look for decals that stick right on the tile. You can get the look of hand-painted tiles while spending hardly any money.
There are many measures that can give your kitchen a new look without spending a lot of time and effort. Try the above measures to make a difference.
