Traveling is a fun, albeit expensive activity. Fortunately, with the proper skills, planning and effort, one can actually make money while traveling. Vacationers can consider the following activities to turn travels into cash.
Writing
Writers can use traveling as the inspiration for profit-creating pieces, according to Tour and Travel. For instance, a travel writer can visit different locations and write about the travels. He or she may focus on something specific such as the cuisine of a certain area or might just write about the travels in general. This might be for a travel magazine or book. The writer can maintain a website or blog and earn money by putting up advertising and paid links.
Companion/babysitter
Someone who wants to travel without paying expenses might choose to go as a companion or as a babysitter. Families with young children often employ babysitters to accompany them on their travels. Oftentimes, the work is light – essentially you are just proving a helping hand with the kids. Sometimes you do more work, especially if the children are young or ill-behaved, so you must find out exactly what is required when you sign up for the job. Elderly or infirm travels may also employ a companion to help. You will typically not pay travel expenses and receive compensation.
Photographer
Photographers can take pictures of the many beautiful locations that they see while they are on vacation. There are many ways that they can then turn around to make money on the pictures. They may sell the photographs to a company that keeps stock photos or needs photographs for a book or magazine. They can put photographs on a website or blog and make money through clicks. Of course a photographer can put together his or her own book. You might also work for a magazine or work on a freelance basis and make money through that.
Part time staff
If you want to take an extended vacation, then you can look for a temporary job where you are going. This may be a seasonal job,. For instance, if you want to spend a lot of time at a ski resort, then you might apply for a seasonal job there. Look to see what is available in the areas where you want to travel.
Just because you are on vacation does not mean that you cannot earn money. Think about your skills and how you can apply them to making money at the wondrous places you travel.
