Most Popular Questions Asked in a Job Interview
It is important to be as prepared as possible for a job interview. There are many commonly asked questions, and formulating answers to these may help you when the actual interview comes. You may see several or all of the following popular ones.
What is your experience?
It is almost certain that the interviewer will ask about your prior experience. Many companies want candidates to have specific experience that will help them in the position. Make sure that you can accurately tell them exactly what jobs you have performed. You may need to go into detail. Think about the type of experience that they would like to see.
What are your strengths?
The interviewer wants to see what you can “bring to the table.” You should know the strengths that they may be interested in seeing such as whether they want you to be a “people person” or very organized.
What are your weaknesses?
This can be a very difficult question to answer. Some people may ask it to see how quickly you can think. Try to think of something that is very minor or which they may take as a positive such as tries too hard to be perfect.
Can you tell me about a challenge that you have faced and how you dealt with it?
Many employers want to see how you deal with problems. They may ask that you tell them about a problem that you had in a prior job and how you overcame it. You should try to think of one of these to have it ready to tell them should they ask this popular question.
Why are you interested in the job?
Oftentimes the employer wants to know why you want the job. Obviously they want someone who is looking for the job for the right reasons. They do not want someone who is simply in it for the money. If you can find out something about the company beforehand, then that might be helpful for the question.
Why did you leave your last job?
Employers do not want to hire someone who is just going to quit right away. They also might not want someone who did very bad at their last job and was fired because of it. Unless the reason why you left your last job made perfect sense such as if you were laid off or had to move, you will want to come up with a good reason. If you have had a lot of jobs in a short span of time then you may expect a question about that.
You should think about the answers to the popular interview questions above. They may help you perform better during the actual interview.
