You may not feel comfortable in what you are wearing to have people looking in. For instance, you may like to walk around the house in pajamas or a house dress. You also might not want people to see the items that are in your house because you fear that you will become the target of robberies.
Another advantage is that it might help keep your home cooler. If part of the sun is blocked and it looks darker in your home, then it might not get as hot. This may also help with energy costs in the summer, which can be substantial.
Some window tinting also provides SPF protection. You can actually get a sunburn through plain glass if the sun is directly on you. Of course most people do not want to have to worry about wearing sunscreen in their own homes. The window tinting can help prevent that.
You also might like the look of window tinting on the outside of the home. You may think that it gives the outside of the house a more uniform look.
Disadvantages
One disadvantage of window tinting is the price. When you get tinting placed over all of the windows it can comprise a substantial cost. This may not be an essential item for you and may simply not be in the budget.
Window tinting darkens the home. You may prefer to see the outside as bright as it really is. A darker home also looks less spacious.
Some people don’t like the look of tinting on the outside of the house. You might have beautiful curtains, flowers and other items by your windows. Also, you actually might want people to see inside the window, such as if you want your children playing outside to be able to look in and see you.
