Many children love flowers, and this can make a great theme for a bulletin board. There are different ways that you can do this, and the following are some items you might want to include.
Post pressed flowers
Pressed flowers can be absolutely beautiful on a bulletin board. You can get the children involved by having them press their own. If you have some flowers on your campus, then you can actually go with them to pick them, which in itself can be a nice activity. Otherwise you can bring in all types of flowers. You can show them how to press them and then you can mount these onto the board. When you are ready to change the board, then this can be a nice keepsake that they can take home.
Pictures of different flowers from around the world
Most elementary school students are familiar with common flowers like roses, however there are many unique flowers out there. You can use the bulletin board to teach about these. You can get photographs of some of the most unusual flowers out there. You can also write down information such as their name, where they are found and other characteristics such as what they smell like. You can also have the children participate by doing a report on a type of flower and then posting those up.
Have the children draw different flowers
You can make your bulletin board be a showcase for the children’s art projects on flowers. You can have them cut out the shape of a particular flower such as a tulip. They can then color it with crayons, markers or paints. They can add different embellishments such as glitter, beads, crystals and other things.
Place information about flowers
You can write out the names of different flowers. You can write out different facts about flowers such as what they actually are and what role they play. The detail you go into will be a product of the children’s ages.
When designing your board, you are not limited to one of the ideas above – use them all if you would like. Also, you can add in pretty embellishments. You can line the background with flowery wrapping paper or fabric, for instance. You can place on stickers of different flowers or attach silk flowers to it, which can be very pretty. With all of these the children can learn about and enjoy the flowers bulletin board.
