Tips for a Break up Meal
(424 Words)
Some people choose to break up over a meal. If you choose to do so, you may want to consider the following tips.
Make something that is easy on the stomach
Tension can be high for both parties when there is a break-up eminent. You do not want to serve something so heavy that the combination of food and circumstances makes you or your soon-to-be ex sick. You may want to choose food that is a little blander.
Consider comfort food
You may feel a little better if you are eating comfort food during your break-up meal. What constitutes comfort food is different for everyone. It might be warm bread, grandma’s soup recipe or something else that you had when you were growing up.
Do not go all out for the other person
You do not want to make the person’s favorite meal and get them all excited by the amount of effort you put forth only to break up with them. This may make them feel worse. You also do not want to have something too festive such as a cake.
Be careful about serving something that they can easily throw on you or use to hurt you
Unfortunately break-ups can sometimes turn violent. One person may throw food or a dish. Certain foods may be more likely to be used this way. For instance, another reason not to have the aforementioned cake is because you do not want it thrown in your face.
Be careful about how much alcohol there is
Alcohol and break-ups can be a dangerous mix. It can make a person feel even worse about everything. You do not want someone to have another reason to feel down. You certainly do not want them getting behind the wheel after drinking, and they may be in no mood to listen to you telling them what to do (i.e. catch a cab). You may want to avoid this altogether.
Carefully choose the setting
Many people will choose to have a break-up meal in the privacy of their own home. They do not want others to hear them, and feel this will be the most respectful. Others may choose to have it in a restaurant because they are afraid of how they would react in public or just feel more comfortable with it there. Carefully consider what is right for you before making your decision.
A break-up meal is not a happy thing, and you want it to go as smoothly as possible. The above tips can help you get through this.
