Unfortunately, many people are on strict budgets this year and need to save money anywhere and everywhere they can. Try the following strategies.
Eat in
A lot of people traditionally eat out on New Year’s Eve, and this can be very expensive. Many restaurants have special meals this day, and it can really add up, especially when you take into account the added cost of alcohol. Instead you can eat in. That does not mean that you cannot eat great. Instead of going to a restaurant where you will spend a fortune on appetizers, buy inexpensive yet still delicious ones from a discount source such as Costco. Make yourself a fantastic multi-course meal. You can buy alcohol at the store for much less than at a restaurant.
If you do choose to go out, there are still methods for saving money. You can look to see which restaurants offer the best deals. Even if you go out to eat you can wait until you get home to drink. This will save you needing to worry about who will be driving – an added bonus.
Choose less expensive activities
There are many fun things to do on New Year’s Eve that does not cost a lot of money. If a friend of yours is having a party, then you can go to that instead of the $200 a ticket gala you normally go to. Instead of going to the movies, watch a great movie in the house with popcorn and a bunch of friends. If you live near a beach, then this can be a very special and romantic activity to do instead of the pricey dance.
Wear something you already have
Some women like to go out and get something new and ritzy for New Year’s Eve This can add up in price. Instead choose a great outfit that has just been sitting in your closet. You may have one from a few years back that you still love. Instead get a new inexpensive accessory to spiff it up if you feel like you want something a new.
New Year’s Eve is a special time, and it still will be even without a lot of money spent. Consider the above ideas to save.
