: What not to say to Traffic Cops when you get Pulled over

:
(433 Words)
You hear the blare of the sirens behind you and your heart falls. A traffic cop has you in his sights. Once he pulls you over, there are things that you can say, and things that you most definitely should never say. You may want to avoid the actions listed below.
“Can I give you a little money to make this go away?”
It may seem like a win-win situation. You give the cop a little money and he forgets he ever saw you. Unfortunately, most of the time this is not how it’s going to work. Instead you might end up getting arrested for trying to bribe a police officer. Many police officers take a lot of offense to being offered a bribe. If they were to take it then it would put their jobs on the line, and the small amount of money that you would give them is not nearly enough even for many crooked cops. Of course many are honest and would very much bristle at the insinuation that they were not.
“Can we go out sometime?”
You do not want to hit on the cop who is pulling you over. You should not do it to get out of the ticket and you should not do it because you want a relationship. Many cops are going to see you as trying to convince them to let you go. Some might feel uncomfortable. You should not even make a personal comment about how they look. No matter how they view it, it is likely not going to be good.
“I’m going to sue you!”
You may feel like doing that but you definitely do not want to threaten a cop with anything. If you want to sue them later, then do so. Of course never ever threaten a police officer with bodily harm. You could find yourself thrown to the floor and hauled off to jail before you get another word in. If you are going to complain later to their superiors then that is your right, however try to keep it civil between you and them during the actual stop.
“No.”
Most police officers do not like to hear this word. If they tell you to do something (unless it is obviously against the law as in they are hitting on you) then you should do it.
If you say something inappropriate to a police officer who is pulling you over, then you may face serious consequences. You may be detained further, get a larger ticket or even get arrested. The above statements are some you should avoid.
