A DJ can go a long way in setting the scene of a wedding. This can play a big part in whether you enjoy your wedding or whether you wish you had made a different decision. Consider the following points.
How much do they cost?
A lot of people are very budget conscious, especially in this difficult economy. You will want to ask the DJ about what their fees are. Make sure that you find out about the total cost because some people will try to sneak in fees at a later time. Also, many of them will have different packages. They may try to work something in within your budget. Some of them may also negotiate a little as well.
How long do they play for?
You do not want to get 80% into your wedding only to find that the DJ is ready to go home. You want to make sure that they will play for as long as you need them to. If you are not sure yet about the exact time then you might want to see what availability they have and if they can extend it if need be.
What activities do they do?
A lot of DJs have a Master of Ceremonies. They may help lead your entire wedding. They may run different fun dances such as an oldies mix, might run the cake cutting and bouquet toss and so forth. Others will more just play music. Most will tailor it to your desires.
Do they have the selection of music you want?
If you have specific songs in mind, then you might want to make sure that they have them. Most will have a wide selection of music ad if you let them know in advance they will probably be able to get something specific that you want.
Can you see them in action?
You might want to see the DJ in action. They might have a demo tape, which can give you an idea of their style and abilities. Also, they might be at an event that you can go to, such as one at a club.
Most of all you want to make sure that your DJ will give you the wedding that you desire and envision. Think about whether your personalities match and if he or she will be able to provide the right setting for your event. Consider the above factors when deciding whether the DJ is right for your wedding.
