:
(407 Words)
Many people know of the popularity of Florida as a retirement destination. So why do so many people choose this destination for their lives after work? There are variety of reasons cited by different people, including the following.
The weather
The temperate weather is one of the most popular reasons why people choose to retire to Florida. Florida does not get nearly as cold as most places in the United States. Even in the winter you can sometimes be comfortable in shorts or other light clothing. The summers get hot, but air conditioning is plentiful to help you avoid this. There have been few occurrences of snow and many who are retired do not want to be shoveling anymore. A lot of people who are retired are sensitive to the cold. As you age you might get aches that could be exacerbated by cold conditions. Some may feel like they would have to stay inside the entire winter if they remained in a cold place. Florida gives a climate that many find comfortable.
There are many senior condos and communities
Many people who retire are looking for some senior condos and communities. They might like to do some of the amenities such as playing golf. These communities are often much more reasonably priced than a lot of the places without age restrictions. They also may have rules that suit someone who is retired such as a no pets policy. Some of them like the Century Village condos in Pembroke Pines, Florida, have extensive clubhouses with gym facilities, classes, movies and a lot of different clubs. They may have classes and workshops that are specifically geared towards this. There are also many senior centers, which is good for retirees who want something to do.
There are many other retirees in the area
A lot of retirees like to be near people who are in the same stage of life and whom they can relate to because they are of a similar generation. They can be near other people who are available to get together during the day because they are also retired.
Prices are less than in some areas
Some people retire to Florida because it is cheaper than where they currently live. This depends on where you live since Florida is neither the cheapest nor the most expensive place in which to live.
Florida is the choice for many retirees. The above reasons explain some reasons why.
