Learning to Relax and Enjoy a Date

Do you have a great deal of anxiety when going on a date? If so you are far from alone. Many people find dating to be anything but relaxing, however it is important that you are as calm as possible so that you can enjoy yourself and show your date the real you.
Be comfortable with who you are
A lot of people get very nervous when going on a date because they are worried that their date will judge them badly. You may then act very nervous, and it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. You should be proud of who you are and not afraid to show that to your date. Try to relax about this aspect of the date.
Do fun things
You may find that you are more relaxed on a date depending on what you do. For instance, if you go to a very fancy restaurant, then you may feel more nervous than ever. If you instead go to an arcade, then you may start to have fun. You may forget about your worries over the date and instead just have a good time and relax. There are many great date locations that you may find distracting such as a watching a sports game or even playing sports with him or her.
You should also try to immerse yourself in whatever activity you are doing so that you can relax a little. For instance, you can try to really get into the conversation you are having with your date to feel a little calmer. If you are watching a show or movie, then try to focus on it. If you start to think thoughts that get you nervous such as wondering whether your date likes your dress, then forcefully push those from your mind.
Understand that your date may be feeling the same way
Some people get very nervous when dating because they mistakenly think that everyone else is completely self-assured and confident. The truth is that most people feel a bit of stress during a date. Your date may be just as worried about impressing you as you are with impressing him or her. The realization of this may provide comfort and help you relax.
As much as possible, try to relax and just enjoy your date. You may even try a little meditation technique during your date if you find that you are getting worked up. As you go on additional dates with the same person, hopefully you will be able to just have fun.
